Crestfall || Plague and Plenty

In an effort to spice things up a bit, I made the decision to inject cave flies into C12DS. After all, the majority of the population was centered in that one specific corner of the map, I suppose because the sunflower is there?

It seems all I succeeded in doing was making them extra miserable. But at least it's gotten them moving, in one direction or the other... so hopefully given a bit of time, they'll start to spread out.

Things seem to be going well in the Norn Terrarium, too, where these guys seem like they've gotten into quite the fight - but at least they're happy and healthy! 

Watching this argument feels a bit like watching a soap opera. While Agilulf, Arke, and Onerous Moor all seem to really dislike Antoni, Amalindis is just a few feet away declaring her love for him... 

...while Esme plods along silently, evidently not caring to add to the discussion (or just not using the genome that makes Norns have these discussions in the first place).

As I'm watching this, Agilulf ages to Old and begins to declare he "hates Norn" without specifying which one. While I'm sure he means someone specific, it's funnier to think he's decided he just hates everyone as a whole (and fitting for a grumpy old man, too).

Meanwhile, as I sped up time for a bit while at work, things began to settle down. Even though the numbers are tapering off to more acceptable levels, the Gargoyle Norns still regularly breeding. Many of the females, like Smooth Grapefruit here, have developed this sort of muted color, which is quite pretty!

Meanwhile, though, it seems the Norns in the Norn Terrarium disappeared while I was gone... it was likely old age, if I had to guess. But since most of them disliked each other so much, it seems it resulted in no children...

So, to have another go at introducing a population to the Norn Terrarium, I decided to bring in two new Norns!

It's everyone's favorite breed in technicolor, the Kunterbunt Norns! A new day in the Norn Terrarium begins with a pair of lovely neon creatures - a female, named Magenta Apple, and her male counterpart, Mighty Kumquat (what a name!). Hopefully, the two of them will be able to thrive together - with perhaps a little less drama?

After this point, Crestfall is able to reach through space-time for the first time in quite a while. At last, we have reconnected to the Warp, where some more new faces come to join our colorful new Norns:

A steady stream of Generation 2 Norns, who appear to be crossbreeds between some different species, begin to flow in through a Warp Portal in Crestfall! These Norns were sent to us by Xerus, who I believe also sent us the previous Norns that were in the Norn Terrarium and found themselves torn apart. Let's see where these new Norns go on their journey... and will they fare better than their predecessors?
